OUTSHINE

~ THERE IS NO FORCE MORE POWERFUL THAN A WOMAN DETERMINED TO RISE. ~

- Bosa Sebele

Tracie was furious. Despite being extremely proficient at her job, she had just been sacked. And for what? Simply voicing her right for equality. It wasn’t fair. She loved her work.

Burning with rage, Tracie slammed the brakes of her car. There, on the deserted forest road home, she came to a sudden stop.

Trembling with fervour, she jumped out and strode determinedly through the tall trees, until they gave way to a majestic blue lake. Without breaking her stride, Tracie stripped down and almost ran into the still, liquid mirror.

Soon she could no longer feel the soft mud beneath her feet. Striking out, Tracie swam further and further, each stroke a fierce emission from her heart. Until she stopped.

The cool, turquoise waters gently swirled round her lone, fiery presence; waiting for what was to come. Almost like the lake could read her pain.

And with a sudden intake of breath, it came.

The screams surged from deep inside and escaped through her parted lips. One after the other, each reverberating in quick succession, as Tracie let out her intense outrage. Until finally, out of breath and subdued, she heard the divine voice of her spirit,

“Remember Tracie, you are of a world that is yet to be lived in. And it is you, along with your fellow sisters, who will create it.”
